TYPE OF EMPLOYMENT:       Summer Temporary Part Time - 20 - 25 hours per week


PRIMARY FUNCTION:   
The Striving To Achieve Reading Success (STARS) Assistant helps with the daily program for members in the Kindergarten through 3rd grade age range that promote education, self-esteem and encourage the positive social development of our members. This includes planning and executing programs for individuals, small groups and large groups.


Assist the STARS Coordinator on the daily operations of the STARS program & assigned/designated area.

1. Assist in the facilitating of group activities as assigned
2. Assist in the completion/maintance of program rosters & reports
3. Assist with and/or coordinate the CACFP after school snack program if necessary
4. Maintain positive collaborations with other area agencies
5. Ensure an environment that meets the organizational standards for the health and safety of members
6. Assist other program areas as needed and maintain a positive team attitude
7. Attend regular staff meetings and oversee special projects as assigned
8. Communicate effectively with the community, staff, members and parents
9. Provide guidance and discipline as needed
10. Other duties as assigned

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
High School diploma or GED.   Must have some experience working with youth. Should also have some experience working in a drop in center atmosphere. Must possess maturity in judgment; be very organized, be able to take initiative, be enthusiastic and be a team player.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Branch atmosphere will require walking from area to area, running occasionally, sitting for periods of time, bending, twisting and raising your arms above your head. Should also be able to lift at least 25 lbs. and kneel.  Also must be able to stand for long periods of time on occasion.
