Type of Employment: Part Time (20-25 hours per week

Salary Range: $10 per hour

 

Primary Function:

The Boys and Girls of the Twin Cities (BGCTC) is an affiliate member of the Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA) with the mission to enable all youth people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, and responsible citizens." The BGCTC is committed to fostering an “Optimum Club Experience” tailored toward quality programming that promotes academic success, healthy lifestyles, and good character and leadership, in all youth – especially in areas where it’s needed most.

To reach its commitment, the BGCTC is looking for an energetic, talented and passionate candidate to serve as a Youth Development Instructor at the Mt. Airy Boys & Girls Club in Saint Paul. The Youth Development Instructor is a member of the Youth Development Professionals team, whose primary responsibility is to implement youth development programs with a focus on healthy lifestyles and character building, ensuring that each member has an optimal club experience.

KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities):

As Youth Development Instructor, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Program Implementation

  • Lead implementation of the Teen Pathways program focusing on post-secondary education and career readiness
  • Ensure that all teen programing is conducted within quality standards aligned with best practices in youth development
  • Set up instructional stations on specific Teen Pathways program activities
  • Assist in the development of teen instructional strategies and techniques to improve program outcomes
  • Plan and lead college and career visits
  • Guide volunteers and teen program staff assistants to provide instruction and manage stations
  • Support your team of youth development professionals to drive Club and organization objectives and goals

Evaluation & Data

  • Ensure that all teens are rostered in the program and attendance is taken daily
  • Ensure that all teen participants are adequately assessed at the designated points of assessment
  • Track all teen participants to ensure appropriate progress in Teen Pathways milestones or to make recommendation for instructional adjustments to meet that progress.

Skills/Knowledge Required

  • BA in youth development, education, sociology or related field or two years college in the same fields with extensive experience in implementing youth development programs in urban setting.
  • Experience working with diverse teen population preferred
  • Previous Boys & Girls Clubs work experience plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Candidate must be computer literate in Microsoft Office and have excellent skills in applicable software.
  • Must be able to drive company owned vehicles
Physical Requirement / Work Environment
  • Must be able to climb stairs, lift at least 50 lbs, be able to stand and sit for long periods of time and be able to walk moderate distances. Occasional repetitive task required. This is a moderately stressful position that requires the candidate to be in excellent health.

Hours

During School Time: 1:00 pm – 9:00 pm

Summer Season: Between 8:00am – 5:30pm
