TYPE OF EMPLOYMENT:   Full Time - exempt

SALARY RANGE:                   $75,000 – 85,000

PRIMARY FUNCTION:       
Reporting to the CEO, the VP of Program Operations is responsible for the organization’s day-to-day operating activities including facility management, program design and structure, operations management, safety, and outcome measurement. The VP of Program
Operations provides leadership to the strategic planning process and is also responsible for the implementation of established and new initiatives that support the organization’s vision for youth development. This position leads the Operations management team and is responsible for regular interactions and updates with the Board of Directors on key initiatives.
 
KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities):
Leadership:
  • Lead the development and implementation of organizational program goals in relation to need and available resources, to facilitate achievement of outlined youth development outcomes
  • Supervise all operations staff including: Area/Branch Directors at eight Club locations and Voyageur Environmental Center; Outcome Measurements Manager, and Facility Manager
  • Ensure that Operations staff are provided the essential training and coaching related to program goal achievement and necessary professional development needed to advance youth development practices 
  • Maintain a strong team environment where staff are engaged through a deep understanding of the Club’s mission, vision and annual goals
 
Board Development:
  • Work with the Board of Directors, providing leadership and direction on Program, Club Safety, and Facilities subcommittees
  • Provide monthly written updates to the board
  • Attend all meetings of the Board of Directors and Executive Committee
 
Vision-Setting and Strategic Planning:
  • Evaluate overall program effectiveness based on participation and achievement of stated goals
  • Recommend modifications to improve program performance, as appropriate
  • Ensure outcome measurement and data analysis drives program improvement and high levels of Club and child safety
 
Program Services:
  • Develop and implement high quality program practices including identification of new programs, training and access to curriculum for staff, outcome measurement guidelines and ongoing coaching and program review procedures
  • Provide oversite for outcome measurement and quality improvement strategies.
  • Review program design and make recommendations for improving youth Club Experience
 
Marketing and Public Relations:
  • Participate in activities to maintain good public relations for Club programs, services and activities; help build public trust.
 
Partnership Development:
  • Create and maintain a wide variety of partnerships with other youth serving agencies, funders, members, parents, schools and community organizations
  • Develop strategic alliances with community leaders and local officials including other Boys & Girls Clubs and Boys & Girls Clubs of America
     
    Resource Management:
  • Participate in the development; implementation and monitoring of the Club’s annual budget, ensuring that Club-wide programs and activities are operated within established budgetary guidelines.
  • Oversee program outcome measurement and data reporting
  • Ensure timely completion of grant report data and narrative information as directed
  • Oversee the maintenance and repair of buildings, equipment and supplies
  • Maintain capital improvement and Club safety improvement budget
 
Communications:
  • Maintain positive flow of communication between staff, members, parents, and external stakeholders
  • Create written updates for use in communicating program and outcome information to board, donors, and community
     
     
     
    SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
  • Must have the ability to supervise staff, understand Club operations including program development, outcome measurements and data, facilities, and safety
  • Candidate must also have proven leadership abilities. Including negotiation, employee motivation, problem solving, decision making, and delegation
  • < >Ability to relate to and work with diversepopulations
  • Demonstrated success in achieving results independently and as part of ateam
  • Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Publisher
  • Strong organizational skills and a talent for creating efficiencies and refiningprocesses
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written
  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Preferred candidates will have experience in developing new programs related to academics, teen outreach, and/or health and wellness
  • A minimum of five years’ experience in non-profit management or in an educational field required
  • B.A. or B.S. degree is required, masters preferred

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Normal office setting with some occasional lifting required.  Also must be able to stand for long periods of time on occasion. Some travel may also be required. Position requires work outside normal business hours and moderate travel is required.
