TITLE:                                  Mentor Coordinator – Patrick Henry Club
 
DEPARTMENT:                  Henry HS Club
 
REPORTS TO:                     Branch Director

TYPE OF EMPLOYMENT: Part-Time / Non-Exempt- Grant Funded
 
 
PRIMARY FUNCTION:   
The Mentor Coordinator is responsible to provide leadership programs and opportunities for males in grades 9-12.  The Mentor Coordinator will have a key role in engaging, recruiting and mentoring males in a group setting.  Also, provide and implement best strategies to better serve all males in Boys & Girls Club and Beacon Network. (20-29 hours per week).
 
 
KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities):
  • Expand outreach and recruitment to males through the Boys & Girls Clubs
  • Provide leadership programs and opportunities for males in grades 9-12 along with implementing B&GC grant funded curriculum
  • Facilitate two Advisory Councils with adults and teens
  • Connect more males to Beacons leadership structures in the Beacon Centers and citywide
  • Build the capacity of Beacons Network organizations to expand outreach and programming
  • Recruit and increase enrollment at Henry site
  • Provide written reports on all program targets and accomplishments
  • Track progress of males in the program, and assist with program evaluation
  • Work with Athletic Director, coaches and Site Director to set up schedules for athletes
  • Provide academic support for athletes and help with snack program
  • Facilitate site intramural sport leagues
     
     
     
    SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
    Individual should have experience in youth development. Must have the interpersonal and communication skills to engage, recruit and retain students (9-12) to be involved in leadership programs and opportunities.  The individual must have strong facilitation skill to lead advisory boards with adult and teenagers. 
 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This position offices at the Patrick Henry Boys & Girls Club site.  Must have a car and the ability to drive to multiple locations.  Must be able to climb stairs, lift at least 50 lbs, be able to stand and sit for long periods of time and be able to walk moderate distances.  Occasional repetitive task required.  This is a moderately stressful position that requires the candidate to be in excellent health.
