Job Title:                    Accounts Receivable Specialist                      

 

Reports to:                  Vice President of Finance

 

Overtime Classification:         Non-Exempt

 

Part-time:                    Up to 20 hours per week

Primary Responsibility: This position is responsible to support the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Twin Cities using sound fiscal management in the function of accounts receivable and adhering to accounting principles when handling agency finances.

Key Results Areas:  Assists in the month end process to ensure timely preparation of grant reports (80%)

  1. Maintain complete and accurate files for contracts and grant awards received from federal, state and local governments, foundations and corporations.
  2. Manage the financial activity of each grant, including but not limited to, grant terms, budget, and any restrictions to assure that all activities and reporting are within the proper guidelines.
  3. Responds to internal/external questions or requests for information and issues that arise related to grants.
  4. Provides support to staff in all levels of the organization to explain transactions, resolve discrepancies and ad hoc reports.
  5. Maintain good working relationships with internal staff and external funders.

Assist in monthly recording of grants in general ledger system (15%)

  1. Prepare journal entry for grants.

Assist the VP of Finance with other accounting duties as assigned. (5%)

  1. Provide backup support for departmental finance functions
  2. Assistant with year-end audit

Minimum Qualifications: 

Education and experience

  • AA degree in Business Administration / Accounting or 2 years related experience

Skills and Abilities

  • Basic knowledge of accounting
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite with special attention to Excel.
  • Basic knowledge of computerized accounting software.
  • Data Entry Skills
  • Protects organizational values by keeping information confidential
  • Detailed and quality orientated.
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Ability to apply analytical skill and incorporate results into problem solving.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written   communications on an interpersonal and/or group level.
  • Ability to model vision consistent with the Boys and Girls Clubs mission.

Working Conditions: 

  • Ability to work in an office environment which requires the use of a PC and telephone
  • 10-key approximately 90% of the time
  • Ability to perform repetitive motion of fingers, hands and wrists.
  • Ability to lift 25 lbs.
