DEPARTMENT/CLUB: Operations/Mt. Airy
REPORTS TO: Branch Director
TYPE OF EMPLOYMENT: Part-time (non-exempt, no benefits) * Two openings to fill.
SALARY RANGE: $15 per hour

The Boys & Girls of the Twin Cities (BGCTC) mission is to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens. The BGCTC is committed to ongoing strategic initiatives to reduce systemic racism throughout the Twin Cities and have defined ways that the Club serves as an activator in addressing the extreme disparities for young people in the communities we serve. The Club is implementing a program model that directly impacts the educational achievement gap in partnership with teachers/schools and parents/guardians.

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
We’re looking for a dynamic, talented, and passionate candidate to serve as Youth Development Instructor, supporting Club staff with educational and healthy lifestyles programming.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Program Implementation
  • Provide daily instruction focused on Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics and Healthy Movement
  • Ensure that all education programing is conducted within quality standards aligned with best practices in youth development
  • Assist in the development of academic instructional strategies and techniques to improve academic and youth development outcomes
  • Support your team of youth development professionals to drive Club and organization objectives and goals
  • Work collaboratively with the Branch Director and Program Director to ensure that Club’s program implementation goals and objectives are aligned with the BGCTC ‘Great Futures 2025 Strategic Plan’.
  • Provide assistance and support to the Branch Director and Program Director to ensure that Club’s operations are in legal compliance with national and state safety and quality standards and meet the funding priority.
Evaluation & Data
  • Ensure that all youth participants are rostered in the program and attendance is taken daily
  • Work with the Program Director to communicate youth progress with family, school personnel, and Club member.
  • Track all youth participants to ensure appropriate academic progress or to make recommendation for instructional adjustment if desired progress did not occur
REQUIRED EDUCATION, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
  • Associate of Arts degree in education, sociology or related field with four (4) or more years of experience in community-based youth development or education field.
  • Knowledge and administration of youth development and/or education programs in the out-of-school setting.
  • Cultural competency and experience working with diverse populations.
  • Good interpersonal skills, and the ability to communicate in writing and verbally, clearly, and effectively.
  • Candidate must have a good working knowledge and proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite and have a good skill-set in other applicable software.
  • Must have and maintain a valid drivers’ license and be able to operate a company owned vehicle.
PREFERRED:
BA/BS in youth development, education, sociology, or related field with two (2) or more years of experience in community-based youth development or education field.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Must be able to climb stairs, lift at least 50 lbs., be able to stand and sit for long periods of time and be able to walk moderate distances. Occasional repetitive task required. This is a moderately stressful position that requires the candidate to be in good health.

STARTING DATE: Immediately.

HOURS:
  • During school time: 2:00 pm - 7:00 pm
  • Summer season: TBD
