TYPE OF EMPLOYMENT: Part-time
SALARY RANGE:  $15.00 hourly

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

The Boys and Girls of the Twin Cities (BGCTC), an affiliate member of the Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA) has a mission to enable all youth people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens”. The BGCTC is committed to fostering an “Optimum Club Experience” tailored toward quality programming that drives academic success, healthy lifestyles, and leadership & character for all Club members.

The BGCTC is looking for a dynamic, talented and passionate candidate to serve as Program Instructor at Centennial Elementary Club. The Richfield Public School Club locations are part of the Richfield Beacons Network Beacon Network; a partnership between the YMCA of the Greater Twin Cities, the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Twin Cities, and Richfield Public Schools.

KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities):

PROGRAM IMPLEMENTATION

  • Provide daily instruction focused on literacy (phonetic/fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension) and/or mathematics for youth in grades K-2 or 3-5.
  • Set up instructional stations using specific academic program activities in areas of reading, writing, S.T.E.A.M., healthy lifestyles, and leadership.
  • Ensure that all education programing is conducted within quality standards aligned with best practices in youth development
  • Assist in the development of academic instructional strategies and techniques to improve academic outcomes
  • Support your team of youth development professionals to drive Club and organization objectives and goals
  • Work collaboratively with the Richfield Branch Director and Program Director to ensure that Club’s program implementation goals and objectives are aligned with the BGCTC ‘Great Futures 2025 Strategic Plan’.
  • Provide assistance and support to the Branch Director and Program Director to ensure that Club’s operations are in legal compliance with national and state safety and quality standards and meet the funding priority.

EVALUATION & DATA

  • Ensure that all youth participants are registered in the program and attendance is taken daily.
  • Ensure that all youth participants are adequately assessed at the designated points of assessment.
  • Work with the Program Director to communicate youth progress with family, school personnel, and Club member.
  • Track all youth participants to ensure appropriate academic progress or to make recommendation for instructional adjustment if desired progress did not occur.

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

  • Completion of a degree in youth development, education, sociology or related field preferred; open to current college students.
  • Candidate should have a minimum of one-year experience working in community-based youth development or education field.
  • Experience with Positive Climate practices or Responsive Classroom techniques
  • Knowledge and administration of youth development and/or education programs in the out-of-school setting.
  • Previous experience working with diverse population in a school or BGC setting preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Candidate must be computer literate in Microsoft Office and have excellent skills in applicable software.
  • Must be able to drive company owned vehicles.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Must be able to climb stairs, lift at least 50 lbs., be able to stand and sit for long periods of time and be able to walk moderate distances. Occasional repetitive task required. This is a moderately stressful position that requires the candidate to be in excellent health.

HOURS:

• During School Year: 2:30pm – 7:00 pm (hours may vary)

• Summer Season: Schedule TBD
