TITLE:                                    Social Recreation Coordinator
 
DEPARTMENT:                    St. Paul Park & Recreation Employee and reports to Boys & Girls Clubs 

LOCATION:                            Mt. Airy Boys & Girls Club
 
REPORTS TO:                        Program Director
 
TYPE OF EMPLOYMENT:            Part Time – 25- 29 Hours Per Week               
 
SALARY:                                  $10.00 per Hour                
 
 
PRIMARY FUNCTION:    
The Social Recreation Coordinator is responsible to provide programs that promote self-esteem and encourage the positive social development of our members. This includes planning and implementation of programs for individuals, small groups and large groups. In addition, this position is responsible to oversee the games room area and conduct special events.
 
 
KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities):
 
  • Oversee the daily operation of the games room area
  • Provide a wide range of program options for individuals, small groups and large groups that are age appropriate and engaging
  • Maintain a safety conscious attitude in performing duties and provide a safe environment for program participants
  • Facilitate group clubs as well as run required grant funded programs such as (money matters, goals for graduation and passport to manhood)
  • Supervise department staff and volunteers
  • Maintain positive collaborations with other area agencies
  • Plan and implement a wide variety of special events
  • Submit periodic written reports including statistical information
  • Communicate effectively with staff, members, parents and community partners
  • Must be able to drive company owned vehicles
  • Attend regular staff meetings including planning and evaluation days and oversee special projects as assigned
 SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
High School diploma or GED required, some college preferred. Experience working with youth of a variety of ages in a drop-in atmosphere required. Also must have experience in program planning, special event planning and implementation and group club facilitation. Must be a self-starter, creative, possess maturity in judgment, be very organized, enthusiastic and goal oriented. High energy level and a willingness to work outside normal business hours required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Branch atmosphere will require walking from area to area, running occasionally, sitting for periods of time, bending, twisting and raising your arms above your head. Should also be able to lift at least 25 lbs., kneel and drive a vehicle for extended periods.  Also must be able to stand for long periods of time on occasion.

HOURS:  TBD. Hours of operation at the Club are between 2:30 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. during school hours and 8:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. during summer hours.
